Come What Mayhaw was the very first sour beer produced by Great Raft. It’s been three long years since, but on Saturday, September 21, Come What Mayhaw is back for a limited time.
This golden sour spent over a year in oak, then conditioned with 1200 lbs of mayhaws . The result is a fruit forward sourness, accented by balanced acidity from various bacteria and expressive oaky tannins.
750 ml bottles and draft will be available in the tasting room on Saturday, September 21st at 12 PM. Bottles are $20 and 10 oz draft pours are $5. No growlers. No samples.
What is a mayhaw? It’s a small, tart, berry-sized fruit that come from mayhaw trees grown in Southern bayous along the Texas / Louisiana / Arkansas border. They look similar to a cranberry and are usually fruity and tart. They are often too tart to eat raw, so many people use them to make jelly…or beer.
