Local beer will have a spotlight at the 36th annual Mudbug Madness Festival taking place May 24-26, 11 a.m.-11 p.m. in downtown Shreveport’s Festival Plaza. Great Raft Brewing is partnering with Downtown Shreveport Unlimited to create the festival’s first beer garden and green space, featuring local beer, educated beer servers, yard games and more.
The Great Raft Beer Garden will be located adjacent to the Louisiana Seafood NBC6 Madness Stage and will feature five signature beers. Southern Drawl, a dry-hopped pilsner, Commotion, a hazy pale ale, 318 a golden ale made exclusively for the 318 Area Code, Reasonably Corrupt a black lager and Life Itself, a tart wheat ale with lime – the brewery’s summer seasonal. The Great Raft Beer Garden will be staffed with trained volunteers, as well as a member of the Great Raft Brewing staff. All staff members are Cicerone Certified Beer Servers, trained to help customers find the right beer for them.
“We truly believe there is a beer out there for everyone. At the festival, we are excited to showcase different styles and flavor profiles to appeal to a wide group of people in an approachable environment,” said Lindsay Nations, Great Raft co-founder and vice president. “The Great Raft Beer Garden gives us a unique opportunity to engage directly with the consumer to help them find the right beer.”
The Great Raft Beer Garden is a 1,200 sq foot space where festival goers are invited to relax and enjoy a local beer while they enjoy this year’s stellar lineup of national acclaimed artists. This green space is unique opportunity to try a wide variety of Great Raft beers. Guests will also enjoy delicious local food and music. Open to all festival goers, access to the Great Raft Beer Garden is free of charge. Beers are available for purchase using Mudbug Madness concession tickets.

Not only will patrons be able to purchase beer brewed locally in Shreveport, less than 3 miles from Festival Plaza, they will be able to enjoy yard games and green space,” said Mary Helen Marrs, Executive director, Downtown Shreveport Unlimited. “Great Raft Brewing is a local gem and we are thrilled they are a part of the festival.”
