Leaving DC was bittersweet for certain. Over the eight years Lindsay and I lived there, we met countless folks in the beer world who made tremendous impacts that ultimately prompted us to return home to start a brewery. Among those were many members of the Neighborhood Restaurant Group. We found ourselves attending Dogfish Head tap takeovers at Rustico and epic Allagash beer dinners at Evening Star. It was truly eye opening and the start of our beer obsession, so we consider it a priority and a privilege to brew with the Bluejacket team.
Our collaborations have become somewhat of a tradition. Over the years, we have created imperial schwarzbiers, Belgian pale ales, and hazy IPAs together. We’ve made it a point these last few years to collaborate in January, in order to have something new to release each Mardi Gras season. It’s a fun project and a great reason to get the crew back together to enjoy our latest creation. This year got a little weird with it and settled on a concept of an Orange Creamsicle Milkshake IPA. Yeah, we know, it’s a bit complicated. Think of this IPA as a hazy style that start with an initial familiar undertone of modern American hops and finishes with layers of sweet fruit and vanilla.
This Friday, we are proud to introduce Big Shine: Orange Creamsicle Milkshake IPA. A collaboration with our friend at Neighborhood Restaurant Group and Bluejacket Brewing of Washington D.C.
As with tradition, we will debut this beer in our tasting room at 4PM Friday and at Avenue Pub Sunday at 11AM. Come enjoy a pint with members of the GRB and Bluejacket crew on the balcony overlooking the parades on St. Charles.
